Ways To Die

Page history last edited by Sandy Cheeks 13 years, 11 months ago

The ways that Jewish, Homosexuals, Gypsies, Handicapped prisoners died was mostly from starvation and gas chambers. Hitler wanted to exterminate all Jewish people in December of 1941. By exterminating them Hitler put them in places called concentration campsOnce the prisoners were captured and put in there, it was a difficult struggle to survive. If the prisoners disobeyed one time they were mass murdered in ways that are so gory.  They were forced into a gas chamber that killed so quickly that it leaves no time for breathing. Also, in many cases starving to death was another possibility to die. Meaning, Nazi's did not give out much food. Those are ways that people died in concentration camps.

In December of 1941, that was the month that Hitler decided he wanted to exterminate all Jewish people. (Design). The range killed was 10,000 to as high as 600,000 thousand people. (Brand). As Clark said, “According to the Nazi’s prisoners themselves made no attempts.” (Design). Prisoners mostly died of hunger and disease in concentration camps. (Design). Nazi’s did not attempt to kill all prisoners. The first few years of World War II Nazis formalized borders where Jewish people were confined, then later sent to concentration camps, where they were later beaten, electrocuted, starved and many were put in gas chambers. (Brand).

This is where the Nazi's took the prisoners, once they were captured.

Many people died in concentration camps, but most of them died from starvation. When the Jewish are taken to a camp, they are sent on a train. (Design). On the ride there, the prisoners would only get one bucket of water, with that bucket they all had to share. (Brand). Once they got to the camps, depending on the time, their breakfast would include one slice of bread with a cup of ground coffee made up of water and acorns. Clark explained “Jews laid in one bunk with nine people without any water”. (Design). During lunch they would get a bowl of soup with potato peels and beets in it. (Brand). And last at dinner, they would receive another piece of bread. (Brand).  To survive some prisoners would eat grass and roots to stay alive. (Brand). Starvation killed many prisoners badly.

This picture is of the Nazi's burying the dead, thin bodies.

These bodies are of the prisoners that died from starvation.

In concentration camps, one way of killing people was by putting them in a gas chambers. The gas chamber consisted of Asphyxiate gas, hydrogen cyanide, carbon dioxide, and carbon monoxide. (Design). Gas chambers were used as part of the Nazi’s genocide program. (Design). Clark acknowledged “They were used to execute prisoners.” (Design). First, the Nazi's would place pellets (KCN) into a compartment directly below the chair. (Design). Second, The prisoner is then strapped to the chair, and the chamber is sealed. (Design). Third, The nazi, then pulls a lever releasing the pellets into a gas/liquid, leaving the person no time to breathe. (Design). This then generates the hydrogen cyanide. Fourth, The nazis wearing oxygen masks enter the gas chamber and get rid of the body. (Design).
